Description
PICO Genesis is a non-invasive laser treatment on the Cutera Enlighten III that uses ultra-short picosecond pulses to target unwanted pigment while stimulating the skin, for a brighter, more even complexion with minimal downtime. It is customized to your skin type and the type of pigment being treated. PICO Genesis FX uses a fractional lens to improve acne scarring, enlarged pores and texture. For melasma or more complex pigmentation, a consultation is recommended first.

What It Treats
PICO Genesis helps improve the appearance of sun damage, brown spots, age spots, uneven pigmentation, hyperpigmentation, dullness and overall skin quality. PICO Genesis FX helps improve acne scarring, enlarged pores and uneven texture on the face or body. PICO Sun Spot Treatment targets individual sun spots and pigmented lesions.
How It Works
The Enlighten III delivers ultra-short picosecond pulses that break pigment into tiny particles, which the body gradually clears. With the FX lens, the energy is delivered in tiny focused areas to stimulate collagen and elastin while leaving the surface of the skin intact.
Pre Treatment
If you are new to this treatment, please book a Spot Treatment at least 24 hours before your appointment (72 hours for skin types 4 to 6).
Please avoid sun exposure, tanning and self-tanner for 4 weeks before treatment. For PICO Genesis FX, also avoid retinol, exfoliating products, waxing and depilatory creams for 1 to 2 weeks, shave any area with hair on the day, and book Numbing for Pico Genesis FX 30 minutes before your treatment. PICO Genesis FX is suitable for skin types 2 to 5; if you're unsure of your skin type, please book a consultation first. A consultation is required for PICO Sun Spot Treatment.
Post Treatment
Avoid
- Heat (hot tubs, saunas and hot yoga) for 1 to 2 days
- Retinol and exfoliating products for a few days
- Direct sun for 2 to 4 weeks; wear SPF 30 or higher daily
- Picking at treated spots
Expect
- Mild redness and swelling. A cool compress can help
- Treated pigment darkens within 24 to 48 hours, then flakes off in about 1 week on the face and 2 to 3 weeks on the body
- After PICO Genesis FX, pinpoint redness and swelling usually settle within 3 to 5 days
