Pigment Treatments

Pigmentation Treatment

Description

Sun spots, freckles, age spots, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (marks left after breakouts or injury) and uneven skin tone are some of the most common reasons patients visit Raw Canvas. Pigment can be influenced by sun exposure, aging, hormones, genetics and inflammation in the skin, and different types of pigment sit in the skin differently. That's why every plan starts with a consultation and VISIA skin analysis.

Why pigment needs the right laser

Not all pigment is the same, and not every laser suits every skin type. A sun spot, a freckle and a dark mark left after a breakout each respond to different technology, and medium to darker skin tones need wavelengths and settings that respect the skin. With several laser and light platforms in one clinic, Amanda chooses the technology for your type of pigment and your skin type, rather than using one device for everyone.

Treatments we may recommend

  • BBL Forever Young for brown spots, freckles and sun damage on the face
  • BBL HERO for sun damage on the chest, arms, back, hands and legs
  • Photo Facial on the Cutera excel HR, for lighter skin types
  • The Cutera Enlighten III picosecond and nanosecond laser, including Pico Genesis and Pico Laser for sun spots and targeted pigmentation, for sun spots, freckles, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and uneven tone across a range of skin types, including Asian skin
  • HALO hybrid fractional laser for sun damage and pigment together with texture
  • MOXI and chemical peels to refresh tone and texture
  • Medical-grade home care and daily sun protection to support and maintain your results

One customized session, not a menu of add-ons

With 11 lasers and devices in the clinic, Amanda can address several concerns in one customized session, instead of booking and paying for separate treatments for each one. Every plan is built around your skin, your concerns and your goals.

Melasma is different

Melasma is managed differently from other pigment, because heat and aggressive treatments can make it worse. See Melasma Treatment.

Pigmentation questions

How many treatments will I need?
It depends on the type of pigment. Isolated sun spots may need fewer treatments, while uneven tone and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation usually need a series. Your provider will recommend a plan at your consultation.

Can darker skin types be treated?
Yes, with the right technology and settings. On the Enlighten III, the 1064 nm wavelength can be used for benign pigment on all skin types. Your skin type is assessed at your consultation, and a spot test may be done first.

Will the pigment come back?
Sun exposure can bring new pigment, so daily sun protection and the right home care are part of every plan.
