What is the downtime associated with a Chemical peel?
Downtime varies depending on the condition of the skin and strength of the peel used. We can encourage minimal downtime or really accelerate the chance of visible peeling.
Typically, the day of the peel, your skin feels great! You will experience a glow on Day 1. Day 2 can feel tight and dry, this is because your skin is getting ready to shed! Days 3-5, you can see your skin start to shed/peel. Days 5-7, the shedding slows down to reveal your fresh, healthy, and glowing new skin!
How much am I going to peel?
Peeling/shedding of the skin may or may not be visible to the naked eye, again depending on skin type/condition/peel being performed. However, the same activity of cellular turnover is taking place whether visible or at a microscopic level. Most clients that experience peeling, see this take place in the centre of the face where they have expression and movement.

What chemical peels are best for rosacea, redness, and sensitive skin?
With Rosacea, we have to be very careful due to the sensitivities associated with this condition. Thankfully, we have a well tolerated formula (Renew 30) that is very beneficial for this skin type.

How often and how many chemical peels are required for results?
Although you start to see improvements after just 1 chemical peel, we suggest a series of 3-6, depending on the individual skin being assessed.
Acne – every 2-3 weeks
Hyperpigmentation – 3 weeks
Sensitive/Aging/Maintenance – 4 weeks
Chemical peel at home vs medical grade. What is the difference?
It is very important to see a skin care professional for a safe and effective chemical peel treatment plan. You want to ensure the chemical peel is Health Canada Registered and being used by an educated professional, in a controlled environment. At home peels are not at the same quality or efficacy and can cause major damage. Always seek professional guidance for the best skincare plan.
Chemical peel vs micro-needling?
These treatments can definitely compliment one another, but they treat the skin very differently. Chemical Peels provide cellular turnover (exfoliation), while also infusing beneficial ingredients for multiple skin concerns. While micro-needling, creates dermal wound healing by creating pinpoint openings. Both are great treatments and can synergistically provide excellent results!
How should the skin be treated after a chemical peel treatment?
It is very important that you do not expose your face to water or steam for the remaining day after your appointment. You can shower and wash your face the following morning. Avoid exposure to sun. Do not exercise for 24-72 hours post chemical peel. Diligently reapply sunscreen for the days following your peel.
How do I prep my skin for a Chemical Peel?
We ask that you stop using all actives (Retinols, AHA/BHA, exfoliants etc.) 5-7 days prior to treatment. Additionally, some skin types will also greatly benefit from a pigment suppressing product for a period of time prior to their treatment. These details will of course be discussed with your skincare professional.
