A Photo Firm treatment uses multiple wavelengths of transforming laser light to rejuvenate skin from deep beneath the surface. Some wavelengths target cells with excessive pigment to address age spots, sun damage, and hyperpigmentation. A second wavelength stimulates elastin and collagen production to transform skin from the inside out. As the skin’s natural rebuilding process is stimulated, skin is lifted and transformed.

Please avoid sun tanning or sun exposure for 2-4 weeks prior to treatment. Please discuss ceasing any medication with your doctor before doing so. If you are prone to cold sores, we may recommend taking natural immune-boosting supplements or anti-viral medication.

Please advise your treatment provider if you are currently undergoing Accutane treatment or have undergone a similar drug treatment plan within the last six months, or if you are undergoing gold therapy.

If you are a male client with facial hair, you’ll need to shave the target area before treatment. Some antibiotics and skin creams containing retinol or hyaluronic acid shouldn’t be used before treatment – we’ll provide you with more details prior to your treatment.

If you are new to this treatment at Raw Canvas, please book a "Laser Spot Treatment" at least 12 hours before your appointment. We will spot test to ensure you do not negatively react to the laser. We can also complete spot treatments during consultations.

You may experience some redness or swelling directly following treatment which subsides within several hours. Brown spots may darken temporarily before they start to fall away naturally over the course of several days.

Please avoid sun exposure and use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a high SPF. Avoid excessively hot showers, hot yoga, spas, or saunas for several days following treatment. We recommend using gentle, non-irritating products after facial laser treatments as your skin recovers.

What is the procedure like?

This is a tolerable treatment with amazing results. You may feel a mild, prickly sensation and a sense of warmth throughout treatment. Your sensitivity will depend on your treatment area. Some of our clients compare the sensation to sunlight in a concentrated area; we’ve even had clients fall asleep during treatment!

How many treatments?

We recommend 2-4 treatments for optimal results.

How long does a treatment last?

Visible results can be seen after 1-3 treatments. If you have residual stubborn pigment, we may recommend up to five treatments, spaced out every 2-4 weeks. Results are long lasting.
